Hostel YHA - Travel tip by trekkerman

pictureMember opinion: Aberdeens only Hostel is quite honestly a real let down. As you enter the reception everything seems typical and ok. Beyond reception is where it goes downhill. The communial lounge is smelly, the fabric sofas are filthy and need to be burnt. There is a tv carrying only 4 terrestrial channels, and i got the impression that a couple of the guests were down & out residents awaiting fixed accommodation by the local council. No real hostel atmosphere that you normally get. The room was very small, consisted of a musty smell, a set of metal sprung bunkbeds, an ensuite shower/ toilet and a chair by the smallest ever table.
It was way over priced for what you got. On the plus side they had internet, a large well equiped self service kitchen, and less then 10 minutes walk from a CO-OP food store. Union Street (central Aberdeen) 10 -15 minute walk. My advice to you is - don't book here, book a Guest House for about the same price, cleaner and includes a cooked breakfast.
