Hi Globies

I'll be forced to wait 10 hours for connection in NBO.

Do they allow to stay such a long time in transit area?

Are there retiring rooms or a transit hotel?

(I want to avoid to go to the city because they will charge me

for visa). Thanks...

Wojtek

Visa? Why 10-hours and not 24+10 or 48+10 or one week? In many countries there are special short-term "stopover" deals, usually, you mean (reentry) Airport Tax of about 10$. Ask before or at arrival. Why not stay a few days while you are there anyway!!!

I always choose between staying/playing chess with other travellers at the airport OR going for a "quickie" city tour into town! Iv'e always decided to stay for a while and explore a bit! :-) RR

There are quite a few taxfree shops and a transit lounge with a small restaurant at the airport in Nairobi, however not very comfortable. I can asure you that your'e going to get bored, but you'll survive.

Hey Wojtek!!!

I'm currently in Nairobi.

When are you coming?

Tell me if you will come soon or if it's too late for a bier in central Nairobi, right?

I'm leaving soon to Ethiopia by road via Moyale.

Bye!

Dani!

I just returned from Africa. Now I know regarding Nairobi airport: If you do not want to pay for the Kenyan visa and go to the city /nowadays not very safe/ you have two options: for 20 USD you can stay up to 4 hours in one of two first class lounges /snacks and alc. drinks included/ or to go to the hidden and unconfortable Kenya Airways transit lounge – watch the sign just before immigration control.

10 hours, nightmare!

I have to say I did not feel very safe in Nairobi, especially as a 'muzungo'!
