Hi all

I'm planning a trip to southern Africa and will be spending 21 days camping.

I've never been camping before so I'm not really sure what I should take with me. I have a weight limit of 20kg and therefore want to be efficient.

My first purchase was a micro towel, any other useful suggestions?

Thanks

Amanda

A tent would be a good start :-)

A lightweight tent and sleeping bag are important, and depending on where you are going and what time of the year, you will need to decide what kind of tent and sleeping bag.

Then there is the question of should you take a sleeping mat or not? That all depends on you.

Camping tips:

Take lightweight, fast dry clothing.

Take a small washing line (you get those twisted ones that don't need pegs)

A flashlight could be your best friend (one of those small led ones should do - they're very light on battery usage) if you can stick on your head, all the better.

Thanks for your comments, I wish I had spoken to you before I went. While I was in Namibia, I so badly needed a washing line, that was the only thing I missed of my list.

Also a head torch was brillant, it was so perfect for having both hands free whilst being able to see.

Thanks for the tips
