Hi Globies!

Question to our ferries experts:

Is there a ferry from Aqaba (Jordan - Red Sea) to Egypt - Sinai is closest place.

Any idea about timetible and prices?

Is Egyptian visa on arrival available?

Thanks...

Wojtek

Hi Wojtek

I would love to visit Sinai one day, didn't know that Jordan also has access to the Red Sea and now know how the Gulf of Aqaba got its name! Thanks for that information.

Read about the Aqaba-Nuweiba (Sinai) ferry at:

www.goredsea.com/en_magazine-archivebyissues-article-nuweibaaqabaferry-magazinearticleredsealivingnews.aspx?monthid=january2005

described at this great website too:

http://www.ask-aladdin.com/ferries.html

There is a bit about visas at:

http://www.jordanjubilee.com/travelme/sinai.htm

explaining that a visa can only be obtained at an consul or in Cairo. I remember getting my visa at the airport in Cairo. See also again:

and again:

Remember to send Aladdin a GLOBOpostcard when you return!

Regards

RR

Thank you for your valuable links. 45 USD for one-hour sail - looks not so cheap... And 20 dinars departure tax in Aqaba!

Regarding Red Sea and Gulf of Aqaba: I am engineer not a geographer, I am not authority but once they taught me that every bay or gulf regardless of the shape belongs to the sea or the ocean. I live on the Bay of Gdansk which is the part of Baltic Sea... Everybody can have his point of view...

For me Gulf of Aqaba is the part of Red Sea.

Thank you

Wojtek
