I've had this booked since last October. I have travel insurance but it only kicks in if my government won't allow travel to a destination or the airline won't land.

So, what's a girl to do? We, thankfully, are only in Bangkok one day and then are traveling North. The Northern Providences have not experienced any unrest to date. I am traveling with my son, 23. We are able to alter our return plans to limit time in Bangkok to just the return flight on the way out.

Has anyone been there recent and can give me any insight?

Also, I would appreciate any opinions on what you would do in this situation.

Eire

Hi Eire,

I can imagine that you are worried, but I have just heard on the radio that the situation has calmed down somewhat.

I was also reading in a blog of someone who is in Thailand at the moment, that he hasn't noticed anything untoward, even on the day he was in Bangkok.

Hope you can go ahead with the trip you have been looking forward to for so long and that when you go, you have a great time.

All the best

Sabine

Sabine,
Thanks for the reassuring words! It sounds as though things have indeed settled down! I feel much more assured today!

Hi!

Im in Bangkok now and can re-assure that the sitution is totally back to normal. all the protestors have gone back home and the political situation is more or less very quiet. If you are coming to Thailand do monitor the news so you can, if it's needed, avoid areas of protests. simple as that. Other than that everything is peaceful.
