Charleston - United States, South Carolina This is at Charlestowne Landing, where the first settlers landed in Charleston in 1670. Not old compared to the rest of the world but really old for the US! There's an old plantation house here with this pond in the front, full of turtles and alligators (can't let our dog swim in here during the summer). Just happened to catch the right time of day for the picture.

This is really lovely! Is the water really green? Dogs don't bite the 'gators? :)

Hi! Thanks! And yes, the water is pretty green. Some of it is from algae in the water and some is the reflection of the trees. If the dogs bit the 'gators I'd feel a lot safer!

Jill, that is gorgeous. I didn't know SC has spanish moss. The water is very green - I thought it was a lawn. Very beautiful.
