Old City Jail's by aufgehts

Charleston - United States, South Carolina The first building built here in 1738 was a workhouse for slaves and hospital for paupers and vagrants. This structure was built in 1802 and designed by Robert Mills, the designer of the Washington Monument in Washington, DC. For those of you who have seen the movie "Glory" w/ Denzel Washington, the remaining black soldiers from the famed Massachusetts 54th were kept here. The building stopped being used in 1939 and remained abandonned until 1998 when it became space for the American College of the Building Arts (masonry, stucco,etc). And to boot, the place has A LOT of paranormal activity...there are very good ghost tours here nightly. It is said that in the jail's 137-year history, over 10,000 people died here.
