Nelson Bay is a major township servicing the smaller townships around Port Stephens, and is popular for its dolphin and whale-watching cruises. This is where one can catch the Humpback whales as it makes it way towards the Antarctic during September to November and its return leg between late May to July. Other interesting sights are the Gan Gan Lookout as its panorama is simply breathtaking at dusk; and Salamander Bay for fun at Toboggan Run complex. [edit text] [editors]
