Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park is about 450km southwest of Alice Springs. It is Australia's most famous natural landmark; an Aboriginal sacred site and the world's largest monolith that stands 400 meters higher than the surrounding area.
It cost approximately Aus$16.25 for a three day pass which allows to enter the park as many times as needed during that given period; that means six sunrises, six sunsets, or a hike up to the top or a walk around the base. There are two types of walks either the Aboriginal (Anangu) or the standard rangers walk; whilst touristy the Abdominal guides are good and give you a really great feel for the people and you even get to enjoy some of the dreamtime legends.
Within the park there are many things to do and see, some are:
Visit the Aboriginal cultural centre,
Take a scenic flight over the monolith,
Experience the Sound of Silence dinner (my personal favourite),
Ride a camel through the red sand,
Try a Harley Davidson motorcycle tour. [edit text][editors]
