Quick background: my wife and I are planning an ATW trip for this fall and were thinking this would be a good (cheap) way to get from Hawaii or New Zealand. Dates and actual ports are flexible. I was dismayed to learn that, with an average cost of $100/day or more, it's not the bargain transport I had imagined. Still, the idea retains a romantic appeal for me.
