The first days we spend in Leshoto we stayed at Malealea Lodge. With our Landrover we found a nice spot to open our rooftoptent. Malealea is a place where you can do hiking, Pony treks and 4x4 driving. It's run by a white couple and they make sure that the local community benefits from all the tourists coming in. There is a craftcenter they organise ponytreks and have different routes for you to hike or drive a 4x4.
Favourite spots:
Malealea Lodge is nice with a small restaurant and bar and the view is superb. In it's area there are numerous spots worth a visit...
What's really great:
Hiking in the area of Malealea is, altough pretty tiring, probale the best of Leshoto. You can either take a guide (10 Rand per hour) or go out on your own. A map is provided by the Lodge.
Sights:
Pony trekking.
Accommodations:
Malealea lodge offers chalets or camping.
Hangouts:
The bar is a good place to hang out. It has all the drinks you want and the service is friendly.
Restaurants:
The lodge has a restaurant but we found it quite pricy. 60 Rand for dinner is to much....
Hey Hans Howzit!! What did you think of the Sani Pass , did you stop for a beer in the worlds highest pub cool ey . 60 rand is like what 6 pounds or 10 euros thats not to much for a meal in a resteraunt is it?
