Isla Mujeres - Mexico, Quintana Roo A statue of Ixchel, the Mayan goddess of fertility, child birth weving and the moon, in Isla Town. Isla Mujeres, the Island of Women, was named after the little figurines of women were found when the Spaniards first landed on the island in1517.
