I would like to go to Canada and take part in a project concerned with research or observation of animal population.
In fact, I want to get out in the wilderness. Being assistant to some crazy scientist counting wolves or doing some research on the shape of maple leafs.
The thing is I'm somehow unable to find a organisation or institution that needs volunteers for 6 to 8 month projects out in the wilderness.
I could go count wolves on my own. But since there's a lack of experience and money I'd rather go with somebody who gives me some food and knows why he/she is going out there.
Taking part in such a project is regarded as a way to get out in the woods more or less cheap without being completely senseless and doing something for the environment.
Sorry your project fell thru. But if ever you have such questions, always contact the Dept of Immigrations of the country you plan to visit. You can find it on-line thru search engines (such as Google or Yahoo!) & e-mail them.
