Nordegg, located on the David Thompson highway (AKA Hwy 11), is an alternate route into Canada's mountain parks. It enters the mountains near the boundary of Jasper and Banff National Parks. In the local area, Crescent Falls, Siffleur Falls and Abraham Lake are close and worth a visit. There is only a couple of small motels in the area, but plenty of excellent camping, including the David Thompson Resort.

On a historical note, the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion trained in this area prior to heading to Europe, including their drop near Pegasus Bridge in Normandy. [edit text]  [editors]
