Great Wall at Simatai
Simatai is one of the places where you can enter to The Great Wall. Located 110 kilometers away from Beijing is quite easy accesible. Lately the new road has been completed so the trip is even faster. This part of The Great Wall was built during the reign of the Ming dynasty emperor Hongwu. The 19 km section is an invigorating stretch of watchtowers and scrambling ascents. It is also a very popular trip from Jinshanling to Simatai (10 kilometers). Scenic and dramatic views are almost all the way. Some of the parts of the Wall are still very destroyed, so hiking can be quite dangerous. Few watchtowers were even closed to the public. This part of The Wall is less occupied by the tourists. The trip from Jinshaling to Simatai normaly takes from 3,5 to 4,5 hours. [edit text]  [editors]
