Donje Čelo is 1 of 2 villages on the island of Kolocep, located 7 miles from Dubrovnik's Port Gruz. The island is part of Dubrovnik’s Elafiti Island Archipelago and is only 1 of 3 of the inhabited islands (13 in total). It covers just about 3 square km with a population of 150.
Kolocep is locally called Kalamota (I think it means island of knowledge); it is served by a local ferry line service that runs daily on board the 'Premuda'.
I saw only one sandy beach, but it has many little rocky coves that are great for bathing. The island is very picturesque with a lot of greenery around – smelling the pine trees as you walk along the many pathways is perfect.
Owing to the size of the island there aren’t much choice for dinning; in Donje Čelo there are about three restaurants; one in the only hotel on the island, the other in a lovely 1920 villa and the third a bar restaurant.
But the beauty of being on this island is taking some time out and enjoying the beauty of nature. [edit text][editors]
