The island of Lokrum
The island of Lokrum
This island is only 2 kilometre long and it is one of the uninhabited Elaphite Islands that is located just off the coast of Dubrovnik.

During the summer ferries leave every half hour from the port in the Old Town and it only takes fifteen minutes. It is also possible to go on an hour’s cruise around the island, down the Dalmatia coast and back. For a little bit of the adventure and some exercise, you can get to the island using a kayak. There is a tour company, located near Pile Gate just outside of the city walls that offer a day sea kayaking to the island.

The beauty of this island is that it is undeveloped which means you can enjoy the peace and tranquillity as you wonder through the network of trails and meander through the botanical gardens. But one of the main attractions is the beaches – they are less crowded than in Dubrovnik as well as cleaner. [edit text]  [editors]
