These pictures have been made on a journey in 1989. We started in San Francisco, crossed Death Valley and gambled in Las Vegas, visited the National Parks Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Arches and Canyonlands. Above all: Grand Canyon, a real highlight in the life of each traveller, and, off the beaten track, Havasu Indian Reservation. All over this area the layers of sandstone and the rockformations allow the visitor a unique glance into earth’s history. The world has changed dramatically since 1989, but in geology 15 or 20 years are just a short moment. For that reason, my photographs are still up to date today and for the rest of the century.
