Lima travelogue picture
Lima is a really big, old and dirty city. It was founded by the spanish conquerors as a new capital city cause Cusco, the Incas main city, was far from the coast. As a city is not so interesting but have a really good museums and some interesting churches. The wors is the ugly grey mist covering the city all the time that gives a sad sensation when you are there.

Favourite spots:

The favourite spots were some museums like the Arqueological museum (Really important to know about the Incas and pre-incas cultures. The Gold Museum to see some of the best gold works done by the incas. Also interesting is the Plaza de Armas with the Cathedral or the govern buildings all around. The Santa Catalina Church and the important catacombs under it are also really important.

What's really great:

For me was really special the History and Anthropology museum cause was my first contact with the Inca and pre-Inca cultures. I studied this cultures before but here i got a most accurate knowledge about all that cultures. Moche, Paracas, Nazca, Sipan, Chachapoyas, Chimu ... there are lots of important cultures before tan the Incas and at this museum there are twoo much information and examples of the sculpture, textils, religion and architecture of this peoples and of the Incas.

Sights:
The best is the History museum, no doubt. but also the Gold museum and the city center is nice.
But is a city to be seen in 2 days and go to another place.

Accommodations:
There are all range of accomodations in Lima from the Marriott and this kind of hotels to a little hostels for about 10 usd$.
There are also 3 diferent areas:
The first area is at the city center where there are hotels for 10 to 20 usd$ as the Hotel Espaņa or Hotel Europa in front of the Cathedral.
The are is not really safe cause of the pickpokets specially at night.
But the Plaza de armas is at the corner.
The second area is at Miraflores quarter, a most turistic area near the coast. Safer and where you can find a lot of cheap accomodations as the Eiffel Hotel, Larco Hotel, Hotel el Ejecutivo, etc... for around 10 or 15 usd$ and up.
The third is in little hotels that you can find at the other quarters as Barranco (The Backpackers hostel) or Lince quarter (The Point hostel), etc...

Nightlife:
You can find a lot of clubs and pubs at every quarter but i found specially fun an area called LarcoMar.
It's some kind of a big mall at the top of the clefts and overlooking to the Pacific ocean.
That's located at the end of the Larco avenue, really easy to find, and there are some locals, discotheques and Pubs to have fun.

Restaurants:
I found a lot of good restaurants to taste the Peruvian cuisine at the Larco avenue.
I can't remember the names but there are some restaurants to taste the famous Ceviche , empanadas or my best dish... the Pollo al Aji!!!!
Try it!
