Edinburgh - United Kingdom This is the official Scottish residence of Queen Elizabeth II (whose title was initially controversial in Scotland, since they never had an Elizabeth I.) It was in fact Elizabeth I of England who signed the death warrant for an earlier (16th century) occupant of the house, her cousin Mary Queen of Scots.
