1960? No 2003

Withernsea travelogue picture
A small seaside resort on the east coast of Yorkshire in England. It is like arriving in a 1960's English seaside resort with todays prices. A stick of rock, fluffy toys, slot machines are de rigour in all of the tourist spots along the front. The beach is a disgraceful mess with hundreds of tons of granit rocks dumped along the sea wall to prevent erosion and what is left of the beach is either filthy or full of tractors for pulling the fishing boats out of the sea.

The roads to Hull, Hedon and Hornsea spring to mind. While a good pint of Belgian lager can always improve the look of most things, Withernsea sadly does not come into this phenomena in fact the whole place is an absolute tip and worth a miss.

What's really great:
I did find a good Fish and Chip shop along the seafront that supplies a nice rock salmon and chips for a very reasonable £3.75 for a large portion

Sights:
Two gas rigs fourteen miles off the coast

Accommodations:
The Queens and Pebbles

Nightlife:
Oblivion

Hangouts:
Spread Eagle and The Gott Gate

Restaurants:
A Chip shop on the seafront

Other recommendations:

A football pitch on the Hull Road is good for kite flying
