The temples of Abu Simbel ie the Temple of King Ramses II and Queen Nefertari, are indeed the most beautiful of all in Egypt. Why it attracted more attention then the rest was also because the construction of the Aswan High Dam threatened to put them underwater and hence a major rescue operation saw the shifting of the temples to its current site.

As a matter of interest, pay particular attention to the hall known as the Temple of Darkness where only twice in a year the sun rays reach into the heart of the temple sanctuary. Truly a marvel! [edit text]  [editors]
