Mount Catherine is one of the mountains in the Sinai mountain range, and located in the land known as the “holy land” for 3 faiths – Judism, Christianity and Islam. How did Mount Catherine got its name? Apparently, around St Catherine, who died about 305AD, her body was found 500 yrs after her death by a monk who had a vision that her body was still intact and emitting light from the mountain. Around 11th century AD, the monks started distributing parts of the saint’s body to churches. Around the 12th century AD, the remains of her body were placed in the St Catherine’s monastery at Sinai that was dedicated to her. [edit text][editors]
