A part of the Great Sahara Desert, the White Desert is an amazing sea of formations carved by the wind from naturally occurring blocks of magnesium. Located between the Bahariya Oasis and Dakhla Oasis, its remote location provides a quiet setting in which to enjoy the wonders as you walk through mushrooms, birds nested below trees, horse heads or any of the other figures your mind can (and will!) conjure up.
Camping on the White Desert is an even greater joy. The formations are cast pink at sunrise and sunset. To watch the moon rising or setting in the lunar like garden is a once in a life time experience. As your campfire dies down, small desert foxes will come, looking for any food scraps you may have left behind. During the night scarab beetles and other small animals will scamper by. In the morning, take time to mediate while watching the changing light cast shadows in various directions over the whipped frosting that appears to cover the ground! [edit text][editors]
