This was the ancient capital of Egypt and exploring the region would take you to sights both on the East and West Banks of the Nile River and one would feel like its a walk-in ‘live’ museum with history dating back 5000 years.
Tour the East bank with visits to the Temples of Luxor and Karnak.
The avenues of sphinxes is the welcoming sight that beckon you to enter and walk through the Great Hypostyle Hall where 134 columns loom over you with beautiful paintings and reliefs. Head to the Sacred Lake for a picturesque shot of the Temple of Karnak.
When the sun sets, visit the Luxor Temple as the light comes on magnifying the beautiful temple. Wake up early the next day to go on a balloon flight over Luxor taking in the sights.
Then head on to the West Bank to visit the Valley of the Kings, esp Tombs No. 62 belonging to King Tut, and KV5 of King Ramses.
