Named after Indian Chief Tenaya, head of the Ahwahneechee people, Lake Tenaya sits on Tioga Pass, between Tuolumne Meadows and the west gate into Yosemite. at 8,000 feet in elevation, the Lake is preserved as wilderness. There is no boat launch, although kayaks, canoes and small sail boats are allowed.

"Brisk"! The water is brisk! The water source is snow melt. We had some snow at 10,000 feet but not a lot.
