Tikal - Guatemala, Petén The Mayans had developed large acropolis structures as early as the 5th century that house hundred of people close to the main palaces. This structure, located at the back of the North Acropolis, and seen here from the top of Temple V is a terrific maze of rooms that you can climb though. It always reminds me of an early Melrose Place!
