Ruins of Convent of the Conception's by eirekay

Antigua - Guatemala, Sacatepéquez Built in 1581, this was the first convent for women built in Guatemala. This convent once housed 103 nuns, 140 novices, 700 maids, and 12 “beatas”. Damages in three separate earthquakes, it was abandoned in 1774. The lower columns have been striped og their trim by vandals over the years but the upper columns remain a tribute to the early Spanish glory of Antigua.
