information about portugal  Porto MonizPortugal, Madeira
The water in the pools is a bit warmer than in the ocean and for sure it's safer when the waves are really big. The experience must be pleasant - blue ocean on one side, green hills on the other..

Great pic, Irene, I like the different structures of the rocks and the water surfaces.

Great Picture.
The pools are a feature also of Flores in the Azores. It is exciting to swim in water at 20degrees while the Atlantic Breakers create rainbows in the November sunshine.
Tony has highlighted the very interesting issue of reflected light on water.
Where the spur of rock is reflected i n the pool, the blending of the rock colour with a back-light from the blue sky delivers a brown/green tinge. In one of my pictures from the Comeragh Mountains the water is black (reflected rock)
