Beginning the Trek to Cat Cat Village's by el2995

Sa Pa - Vietnam, Lào Cai Trekking the road to the Black Hmong village of Cat Cat, outside of Sapa. It's a doable self-guided trek that will take about 2-1/2 to 3 hours at a decent pace (follow the walkway that cuts through the Sapa Market and joins D Tue Tihn road and keep walking...despite the constant offers for a motorcycle taxi ride there and back, where you only have to, "...pay what you think it's worth.") It's a bit touristy with too many vendor stalls but a nice paved stone walkway and some decent scenery (not to mention a pretty waterfall), hence worth the effort. There is a $60,000 Vietnamese Dong (USD $3.30) admission ticket required and a ticket checkpoint halfway to the entrance to keep you (but not the motorcycle taxi drivers) honest.
