Hoan Kiem Lake's Thap Rua (Tortoise Tower), Hanoi's by el2995

Hanoi - Vietnam, Hà Nºi Hoan Kiem Lake's Thap Rua (Tortoise Tower), located in Hanoi's Old Quarter. Hoan Kiem Lake contains huge tortoises that surface on rare occasions (a dead specimen was recovered in 1968 that weighed 250 kg and measured 2.1 m long). It's said that good luck will come to anyone who sees one; I saw a fisherman snare a tortoise about the size of my palm with line and trebled hook from the bank while I walked around the lake, but I guess seeing a small one doesn't count, as I didn't get lucky in Hanoi. ; p
