Lake at Hlagaw Nature Refuge, North of Rangoon's by el2995

Rangoon - Burma, Yangon Hlagaw nature refuge is about halfway between Rangoon and Bago, with the turnoff being just north of the British Military Cemetery. The refuge has a number of driving trails that allows the viewing of a number of native species in their natural environment (with some additional not-so-native species thrown in for good measure) from your vehicle or on foot, with placards posted to alert you of what species may be present in various regions. One thing that I found humorous was that not long after seeing the sign that said 'TIGER' and promptly rolling my window up to within 2 inches of being closed, I saw of group of gleeful Burmese kids with streaks of thanaka powder on their cheeks skipping and giggling as they peddled plastic bags of fried snacks for feeding the numerous not-so-wild monkeys!
