Terraced Rice Paddies near Gunung Kawi Monument's by el2995

Ubud - Indonesia, Bali The path winding down to Gunung Kawi Monument (outside of Ubud) is flanked on one side by some picturesque terraced rice paddies and makes for an enjoyable stroll (...and a good workout on the trip back, I might add.) As I approached the spot where I took the picture, a Balinese woman sitting on the open porch of a wood and bone-carver's house was practicing singing some old Hindu devotional songs a capella from an old book in Balinese script embellished with Hindu-themed illustrations. Her voice was hauntingly beautiful as it drifted atop the accompaniment of the whisper of the wind through the palm and banana trees, the gurgle of water cascading down the terraces, and the hollow rhythmic scratching as her husband artfully carved designs into a dried coconut shell. The woman was kind enough to let me include her singing as a background score as I shot some video of the pictureque surroundings (video available on the 'EL2995' youtube.com page - Enjoy!)
