A great way to sample the traditional Malay/Chinese hybrid cuisine of Singapore in the historic/notorious Joo Chiat neighborhood (don't be surprised to see Chinese and Vietnamese hookers plying their trade if you have to search for parking along Joo Chiat Rd. - in fact, a taxi would be a better way to go given the limited parking). Try the Rendang beef curry and the pork with mushrooms and bamboo shoots.
