Whereas I can and do read guidebooks and know some things I want to do, I always like recommendations based on personal experience on lesser known sights and good, reasonably priced eating places. --- Grieve not for that which you cannot do but rejoice in that which you can. Today Madrid is a popular year round destination so it's essential to book ahead so as to avoid hours of wandering around the city's hostels hoping there's a room somewhere in the heat of the day. The Hostal Victoria I y II, are on the 2nd floor of the same building on c/Carretas, just 3 mins. from the corner with Puerta del Sol.
