Traveling to Irelad and Scotland

There is some spectacular scenery, when it stops raining. The people are very friendly and the pubs are good but booze is very expensive. Plenty of good restaurants around. Is it better to take a train than coach (citylink) in respect to the scenery on the way? I was online for about 5 hours yesterday cutting and pasting various locales in Scotland to see. I even found a webpage that sells DVD's pretty cheap that offer first hand accounts and video to offer a great sense of what I can expect when I finally arrive.
