Gasadalur is at the end of the road past the airport in the island of Vagar in the Faroe Islands. Until this century it could only be reached by boat - or by crossing a mountain range' as the post delivery had to! Now it is connected by the newest tunnel in the islands [as of July, 2008] with the delectable village of Bour.

How quickly a comunity's life can change. There was a car outside practically every house - when presumably there would only have been a single tractor taken by ship before the tunel was built.

A short walk leads to excellent views of bird cliffs and to see the views are outstanding, even by the very high standards of the Faroe Islands. There is the bird island of Mykines, the diminutive but excitingly shaped island of Tindhulmur and some fine stacks, one with a substantial hole. [edit text]  [editors]
