Le Petit Marche
This restaurant is completely full after 20:00 with people queueing up outside. Making reservation beforehand is advisable. Some dishes are with a bit Asian fusion style. I tried the fish and it was really fresh and well-done. more
Le Loir Dans La Theiere
Packed with locals and tourists for brunch in the morning. The deco and atmosphere is great. Foods are all housemade, especially the cakes and pies are with their own recipes. more
Masino du Victor Hugo
One of only 2 of the Victor Hugo residence that is reverence in Paris. Victor Hugo is the author of Les Miserables and the Hunchback of Notre Dame and so many other books and articles.
From 1832 to 1848, the novelist/poet lived on the second floor of the Hôtel Rohan Guéménée. He was exiled from France and moved to Jersey; where there is another museum. more

Musée du Louvre
The Louvre is one of the largest palaces in the world and is a former residence of the kings of France. This museum can be enjoyed inside and out. Outside the traditional French architecture is wonderful; on the inside it has many treasures but the most renowned are the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo. more
La Maison
A nice little cafe that was sort of expenseive - a beer costs5 euros and a hot chocolate also 5. But it is a nice place to get a drink and maybe some desert. This cafe is quie close to an expensive shopping area where you'll find Cartier, Doir, Chanel etc. more
Le Pre Grill
This little French cafe is in the Norte Dame area and is very reasonable. For a three course lunch it cost 12 euros and for a two course 9. It is a really basic cafe but it was nice, with alfresco eating. It a very small restaurant which in some ways enhances the enjoyment. I would hate to go there when it is crowded and that would be unbearable. more
Monparnasse 56
Not really a secret spot; but after visiting Paris a number of times, Montparnasse was a complete surprise. It offers the the most perfect views of Paris viewed from either the 56 floor, or a short walk up a three flights to the roof. From the roof you can see a 360 degree view with no glass restricting your view. It is really wonderful. It costs between 10- euros to enter, but if you purchase a daily travel card they you get 3.5 euros discount. more
Fiap Asso Jean Monnet
This hotel is particularly suited for groups. School classes can stay here for 3-6 months to study french in Paris. And, of course single persons are welcome! more
Le Capitaine Fracasse

Hotel New York
The Hotel New York is about a 4-minute walk to the Disney village with all the shops and restaurants, and only a 10-minute walk to the park entrance. The hotel is designed as a New York skyscraper and inside there is a lovely feel of the big apple. The rooms are art deco in nature and everything inside is branded Disneyland (I took a souvenir bar of soap). I had a room that overlooked the lake (aka Lake Disney) and ice rink I don’t care how old you are, when you get there you have to immerse yourself into the fantasy that is Disneyland. more
Hotel les Invalides
One of Paris' lesser known sights, the Hotel les Invalides houses both Napoleon's tomb and a fine military museum. more

Friend's Hostel
This hostel is located very near to Sacre Coeur (10 mins walk or so), which is rather notherly from the city centre. The streets here can get really crowded on weekends, and the traffic on Boulevard de la Chapelle can really pick up in the mornings. Some people may find the largely migrant population here uncomfortable if they're not used to it. But it is right smacked in front of the Barbès-Rochechouart metro station (exit by Boulevard de Magenta), which was really convenient. Also, you may find cheaper items in carts, shops along the streets here. The weekend flea market St-Ouen (Marche aux puces de St-Ouen) is a few metro stops up north. It's pretty close on foot to Gare du Nord train station (RER) if you're going to and fro paris and CDG airport. Great if you plan to explore places that are near here. But still feels a little far if you plan to visit the other places and left bank areas in Paris. Rooms, toilets and showers were clean and well maintained, and blankets were provided. more

Young & Happy Hostel
The hostel in located in a good neighbourhood. On rue Mouffetard itself you'll be to find quaint shops and restaurants, and there is a laundromat nearby. You cannot expect much from a hostel, but you'd have to watch out for the really narrow stairwell and corridors. But it's plus points overweighs this - being in a good neighbourhood and that the road (rue Mouffetard) is a not a busy road. Suitable for those who don't want to wake up to busy morning traffic. It's nearest attraction is the Pantheon and some walking distance to Boulevard St Germain and Boulevard St Michel. There is also an open market around the area. Be sure to try the crepes and paninis from the takeaways from the upper side of Rue Mouffetard. more
Hotel le pavillon Bastille
Nice and small design hotel next to the place de la bastille in the vibrant in quarter of paris. Nice and clean rooms good breakfat friendly staff. more
Le train Bleu
This is a great restaurant of paris. Belle epoque style rooms with huge wall paintings classified heritage site!
The food is of a superior quality and presentaiton, service is very attentive and classical (always ladies first...). I think they even had ladies menues.... (without prices)
When leaving Paris from gare du Lyon in the afternoon or evening this is the must place to go to for lunch it's the perfect end of a stay in Paris! more
Restaurant Boucherie Louchebem
If you love meat this is the place to go to in Paris France... Huge servings of meat is the speciality of this butchers restaurant. The food is good and the service ok... more

Les Gourmands
Les Gourmands is one of my favorite restaurants in Paris, located in the 14th Arrondissement about 10 minutes by foot from the Gare Montparnasse. The owners, Nathalie and Philippe, are extremely friendly-- not to mention very talented--cooks. The restaurant is relatively unknown to the foreign traveler crowd and is frequented mostly by locals. It is a little slice of the French countryside amidst the bustling city.
The cuisine here is a perfect representation of the best of southwest France (see website for menu). Specialties are the cassoulet (traditional southwestern dish made with different kinds of meat) and magret de canard (duck breast). Desserts are incredibly good. Keep in mind that the portions are generous...they don't take it kindly if you aren't able to clean your plate.
I would suggest going with someone who speaks French as the menu is quite traditional and the staff in general does not speak English. You will not be disappointed! more

Brasserie Julien
Beautiful brasserie decorated in Art Deco style on the rue du Faubourg St-Denis. Get's packed, so you better reserve a table. There is a late night menu which is good value. more
Hotel A la Grace de Dieu
Brie Comte Robert is a suberb to the South South East of Paris. The hotel is comfortable. Reasonably priced for Paris environs and has a good restaurant. The phone number is 01 64 05 00 76 more

Musée Marmottan Monet
Anyone staying in Paris who is interested in Impressionist piainting should visit this museum which has a superb collection of impressionist painitings. In particular it has a large collection of paintings by Monet, including "Impression Soleil Levant" (Impression sunsrise), the painting that gave the name to the impressionist school, and several of his waterlilly paintings. There are also paintings by other impressionists, including a collection of pictures by Berthe Morisot.
Its a little off the beaten track, near to the Bois de Boulogne, which means it tends to be less busy than the Impressionist section at the Gare d'Orsay. A real treat.
Nearest Metro station is Muette (Ligne 9 : Pont de Sèvres - Mairie de Montreuil), or take the RER to
Boulainvilliers (ligne C) more

Les Tramways de l'Est
A real surprise just in front of the train station "Gare de l'Est". A good fish restaurant, open from 6 AM to 1 AM, seven days a week. The atmosphere is nice and clean, the waiters are friendly and polite, it is quickly served and really good. About 15 € for a lunch (main dish + glass of wine + coffee), which corresponds to a budget restaurant in Paris ! more

Best Western Derby Eiffel
There are cheaper places to stay inParis but I chose this hotel primarily for its location. Situated in the 7th arrondisement close to the Ecole Militaire metro station. The double room was small but adequate. Bathroom with shower (small) and hairdryer. TV with mainly French TV and BBC world. No restaurant but a small bar and breakfast available, however there are plenty of places to purchase breakfast and a small cafe next door. Also a number of decent restaurants close by. Internet access.
The staff were pleasant and helpful.
We had a room on the street facing the Ecole Militaire but noise was not a problem.
Within easy walking distance to Eiffel Tower, Invalides and even the Musee d'Orsay and the Champs Elysees are not that far away (maybe 20 mins). more

Le Seven's Coffee Bar Lunch and Diner
Found this bar/ diner along a back street. Modern feel with music and small video screens. It is small and narrow but has a bar and several tables. Serves more western style food - burgers with chips (big chunky things, club sandwiches and also salmon tartare. Reasonable food and prices. more

The Peace and Love Hostel
Amazing atmosphere, friendly english speaking staff, self catering kitchen, showers in rooms and toilets in 4 bed dorms. A Canadian ladya t this hostel, Karen, she offers a walking tour of Monmartre and Pigalle which is excellent, takes you up to the Sacre Coeur where you can see the entire city from a viewing platform. She really knows her stuff.
Just hop off at Metro Jaures or Louis Blanc, if you hop off at Jaures head out onto the street, stand infront of Mcdonalds on the street corner and look diaganally across the road to your left, you'll see the hostel from that point. If you get off at Louis Blanc head up the stairs and walk straight ahead until you see a canal, the hostel is directly opposite that and on your left hand side.
Happy travels. more
HOTEL DAUNOU OPERA
A cheap hotel near the Louvre. Lovely! I've spent 70 euros for one night. I think that the prices are very low more
Hotel Innova
Located only 10 minutes from the Eiffel Tower and Hotel de Invalides and right next to Pasteur train station, it is in a fantastic location. The rates are affordable and comfortable. I got a double room (2 beds) for only 50 Euros! I went in March, so these rates might go up in peak season. more
Ibis Republique
For the budget traveller, I would recommend this hotel. They have a special weekend rate of euro 72 (Fri. Sat and Sun). Very close to the metro station, eating places and shops.
Friendly and supportive hotel staff.
Modest but nice breakfast in the cellar for an additional euro 6.50 more
Madras Cafe
We found this restaurant by word of mouth on the streets. It turned out to be a real good one. They offer very good choice of south Indian dishes (Idly, Dosa etc) at a very reasonable price. Madras Dosa is really special here. Evenings can be crowded in this restaurant with a lot of parisians opting to dine in this restaurant.
This restaurant is placed in a street that is next to Gare du nord station. more
Cafés Marc
A small coffee roaster on the historic Rue Mouffetard in the 5th Arrondissement. This is a great place to stop for a dark cup of espresso during your exploration of the steet. The surrounding area is quite active, especially on market days, and it's great for people-watching.
Their home-roasted coffee and tea is sold in bulk by the kilogram. more

Nobu
The glamourous side of sushi. Located in the posh 8th Arrondissement, Nobu is without question one of the finest Japanese restaurants in the world. Chef Nobu Matsuhisa has continued the trend started in the United States with Nobu in Paris, owned by Robert DeNiro.
The waiter does not simply show you to your table...he becomes your tour guide and counselor throughout your experience of the "haute cuisine japonaise". The blackend Chilean sea bass was incredible, I highly recommend it.
For a first-class night on the town, this is a fantastic destination. You will mingle with the movie star/politician/socialite crowd here...be sure to come well-dressed. more

Buddha Bar
This club, situated in Paris' exclusive 8th Arrondissement, is one of the only places I know that has a series of albums associated with it. If you are familiar with the laid-back asian electronica music of Claude Challe (Hotel Costes, etc.), this place comes highly recommended.
It's done up in a dimly-lit, southeast asian motif with a giant Buddha statue overlooking the dining room. Music is always fantastic, and you are sure to see the "beautiful people" of Paris among the crowd on a Friday or Saturday night.
It is one of the more famous clubs in Paris. Although not the most exclusive (it has been open for several years and the über-chic have moved on to greener pastures) it is still a great time to spend an evening seeing and being seen.
Bring lots o' cash - drinks are not cheap. Lines after 22.00 on weekends can be long to get in. Dress *sharp* (no jeans, tennins shoes, etc.) more

Le Pain Quotidien
THE ULTIMATE BREAKFAST place. In English, the name means "Daily Bread" and it is a fantastic place to get your bread fix. Baskets filled with croissants, baguettes, and rolls of all sorts. Combine this with pots of jam, honey, chocolate, Nutella, and other fantastic spreads made by the restaurant, and you've got a recipe for breakfast bliss. Salads and cheeses are also served.
This seems to be one of the only restaurants in France where the "free refill" concept has caught on...espresso and hot chocolate a-plenty, plus fresh squeezed orange juice.
Tables here are "picnic-style" and very long...unless you come with a large (6+) group, expect to be seated next to people you may not know. In my experience this has made it all the more fun.
To clear my conscience: this is part of a chain (albeit a very small one). Normally this would be enough to remove it from my list-however I make an exception in this case. They have another location in the 4th arr. on Rue des Archives. more

Chez Bébert
Moroccan place in the Montparnasse neighborhood, just a short walk from the train station. Their specialty is couscous, which is served in copious amounts (come hungry or with a group of people) and is available with various kinds of meat or vegetables or both.
The mint tea (thé à la menthe) after dinner is served with a traditional flourish, which makes you wonder how they can pour the tea into a tiny glass from 3 feet up and never miss.
Tends to be quite crowded with folks coming to or leaving from the Gare Montparnasse. Be sure to come at a non-peak hour (ie before 19.00 or after 22.00 on a typical night) to avoid the wait for a table. more

Les Bouchons de Francois Cler
This is one of my favorites in the 5th arrt. They serve traditional French cuisine in an elegant atmosphere and claim to have the least expensive wine list in France. Prices for dinner range from 25 EUR.
As with any good restaurant in Paris, be sure to reserve your table in advance: especially on weekends and holidays.
Metro: Maubert-Mutualité more
La Mosquée de Paris
A beautiful mosque situated in one of the oldest neighborhoods in Paris (5th Arr.), this mosque has many things to offer for Muslim and non-Muslims alike. Aside from the religious services here, there is a Hammam (steam room) available (check to see if it is a women-only or man-only day before reserving) and a beautiful Arab-style tea room where you can enjoy thé à la menthe (mint tea) and middle-eastern sweets in a room decorated in traditional Arab style. more
Grand Hôtel Lévèque
A nice hotel on Rue Cler in the 7th arrondissement. Rue Cler is a pedestrian-only market street, and you can hear the fruit and vegetable vendors hawking their wares in the mornings during market days. The hotel is simple, clean and reasonably-priced, with a great location just a few metro stops away from the Eiffel Tower and the Hôtel des Invalides.
Be sure to reserve well in advance as the small number of rooms tend to book up quickly. more
