Dunkirk has a flemish feel to it as it is only 10km from the belgium border.

Dunkirk can appear a bit of a ghost town at different times of the year, but there are a few things to see around the town.

It has a few museums of interest; including: Musee Portuaire - about the docks and shipping; LAAC for modern art; and the Memorial du Souvenir - which provides a better understanding of the evacuation during WWII May 1940, which was called Operation Dynamo. This museum is only opened during the summer. Also the belfry and the town hall is of interest.

The town of Dunkirk had expanded over the years and now includes Malo sur mer - an interesting beach front on the North Sea. [edit text]  [editors]
