The Chartreuse Regional Nature Park, to the left as you approach the city of Grenoble from the west is pure delight, if you are looking for something a bit more manageable and relaxing than the high Alps, which gives easy access to them for some days out. Saint Pierre d'Entremont is a blend of two villages, both unsurprisingly called Saint Pierre d'Entemont - one being in Savoie and the other in Isère! Keep your nerve , if you should be pulling a caravan there along those narrow roads with ledges and overhangs. It's survival.
You will retain a memory of a verdant landscape, rushing rivers, gorges and caves, and you will find it remarkably easy to get to the top of some of the charming, rather than spectacular mountains. [edit text]  [editors]
