Verdun - France, Lorraine The Sacred WayFor the battle of Verdun, the immediate problem was supplying the ffront line: by railit was impossible as the line was cut off, it was decided to use a road linking Bar le Duc and Verdun, which was named "la voies Sacree", the Sacred Way, my Maurice Barres in April 1916. Througouth the Battle of Verdun, every single day, 6000 vehicles were driven non stop along this 75Km road. The average speed was about 15 20Km/h Every week 9000 men and 50000 tons of material were transported. see photo 2 for more info
