Lima, being the capital of Peru, is a huge bustling city. The city centre is quite dodgy and polluted and I didn't find it very attractive although it was certainly interesting. Much more relaxed than the city centre is colourful Miraflores with its many cafes and mediterranean style hostels.

The walk by the lighthouse in Miraflores, there are often hang gliders who jump down from the cliff by the sea and then float around in the air right next to or below you.

The contrast between the different areas of the city. The city centre is typical south american metropolis (busy, loud, polluted), whereas the areas by the sea like Miraflores have a European feel about them.

Interesting: Museo de Oro del Peru. It’s half gold and half arms museum. There are some crazy pieces on display (especially the weird suits of armour and huge old guns), and now I'm fed up with weapon museums for the rest of my life! Go there and you've seen it all. Unfortunately it's quite expensive (35 sol)
