Pointe-Denis is a fabulous beach on a small island just across the estuary from the capital city of Libreville. It is mainly a private residential area, where the president, ministers and rich business people have private residences. There are three accommodation options (end of 2011); Baie des Tortues, Maringa and the absolutely fabulous the Assala Lodge. This long beach is the place to see the giant marine turtles to come out at night to lay eggs (season: November to February - varying slightly each year, so December and January being the safest month to try to spot them).
