Bakau is a small town along the Atlantic Coast of The Gambia. It has two faces. One is the magnificent beach lined with excellent hotels hiding super fine dining and streets with pavement cafes, bars and restaurants, boutique hotels...fully tourism orientated part. The other is more local with plenty of African fee. The one storey households, unlit narrow street, local pubs playing live music hidden in the inconspicuous lanes, and even a large African stadium, as well as a sacred pool full of massive crocodiles, as if taken from Indiana Jones films. Bakau might one of The Gambia's best places to visit, as it has both - the local feel and proxity to the every day life and comfortable accommodation and excellent dining. There are also a few nice clubs open late, which attract a mixed crowd - travellers and the locals. [edit text][editors]
