Hi, you can exchange money in all of major banks in Australia

And also at your local Currency Exchange Offices. Thomas Cook Currency Exchange Offices are located all around Australia as well; I know there is some offices in Sydney, and Brisbane and also in other cityes as well. Also you can exchange money at the airports and at American Express offices.

Cheers

Boris

Most American Express offices only have the travelers checks in foreign currency. I have sold many of them. Are you fixing to fly to the U.S.? If so, you can always exchange some money at the airport.

In short - yes. Most suburban banks would have a few hundred dollars US on hand much of the time and it would only take a call to have the correct amount and in the correct denominations on hand within 24 hours ... and if you are in a hurry just go to another bank and they will probably have some on hand especially in suburbs with people doing business with asia.
