Koblenz is where the Mosel [Moselle] joins the Rhein [Rhine] with some of the best scenery of the Rhein Gorge both ways. The Mosel valley is less magnificent, perhaps, but extremely pretty.
Bothe valleys as well as Koblenz itself, are crowned by castles and both Rhein and Mosel wines are noted both in Germany and farther afield. The Rhein in both directions and the Mosel right to the Luxembourg border are ideal for river trips. [edit text][editors]
