Travel guide to Apam

Fort Patience

There is not much to see in Apam. The place is home to an interesting Fort Patience used for the notorious slave trade. It is listed by UNESCO as the World Heritage Site. Apart from the fort, there is little to see in Apam, and some local Ghanaian guides, mainly those who live in the capital, the place is not even on their radar. The fort is "occupied" by a family or two but it is okay to visit. It is slightly neglected but an interesting part of the fort collection along the coast. The view from the fort to the near-perfect beaches is superb. It is not easy to get to the fort as one had to find transport from the main coastal highway, which actually does not run at the coast. There are still a few kilomentres to Apam and public transport is not frequent. [edit text] [editors]
