Saltpond is a small town in Ghana on the coast. It offers interesting colonial architecture and animated market. Some of the grand houses give away that this must have been an important colonial town. Its well organised avenues, which look remarkably tidy and the friendly population make it an interesting place to visit. There aren't any specifically significant sights in the town itself, but the nearby Fort Amsterdam, with a fascinating history, which is located few miles away, is often labeled to be in Saltpond. This is not entirely accurate, as the fort stands in the village of Mankesin. [edit text]  [editors]
