Takoradi with its sister town Sekondi makes Ghana's second largest conurbation. It is a very busy town with regularly lined buildings erected in the colonial times. The fort in Takoradi (often also labelled to be in Sekondi) has been converted into a lighthouse and is constantly occupied. It is also a museum and the lighthouse keepers know remarkably much about the fort. The name of the fort if Fort Orange and the name comes from the family of a certain European royal family. The view from the fort offers a sight of a Navy base, which makes photography a delicate matter. Takoradi is well organised and a civilsed place complete with banks, internet connections and markets, where absolutely everything can be acquired. [edit text]  [editors]
