Travel guide to Beyin
Nzulezu stilt village near Beyin
Nzulezu stilt village near Beyin
Beyin, a very small town, in the extreme west of Ghana's West Coast, near the border with Ivory Coast, is a main gateway to see the stilt village of Nzulezu. The visit permit has to be obtained from Beyin's Tourist Office and a guide is appointed there as well. The little slave fort in Beyin, converted into a very basic guesthouse (Spartan conditions) had two large cannons in the front and nothing really interesting inside. It is very small and questions were raised whether it could ever be used to keep slaves inside. Beaches around Beyin are deserted and calm. They are wide and if one wants a total escape from the world and tourist, this is the place to be. The town is also rather interesting from the architecture point of view. There are fine examples of architecture mixing traditional African and colonial styles. [edit text]  [editors]
